Stock market astrology, with the limits stated first
India has a long tradition of reading markets through astrology. Most of what is written about it overclaims. Here is the version that survives scrutiny.
What is actually calculated
Practitioners read the chart of the exchange's founding, the charts of index constituents, and current transits. The output is timing: periods of tension, periods of ease, and dates where aspects complete.
What that is good for
- Awareness that a week may be more reactive than usual.
- Noticing that a phase has been long, which is easy to lose in day-to-day noise.
- A discipline prompt: re-check your risk before a tense window, rather than during it.
What it cannot do
It cannot produce a price, a level, a direction, or a probability. It has no mechanism for knowing whether news will be good or bad. Any framework that claims otherwise is not astrology — it is a forecast wearing astrology as a costume.
Why publish it at all
Because a lot of people already use it informally, often badly, and a public record of what was said in advance is better than a private feeling after the fact.
Questions people ask
Is there evidence it works?
Not in the sense a statistician would accept. The honest position is that it is a traditional framework with anecdotal support, which is why we publish the record and the misses.
Which ayanamsa do you use?
Lahiri, stated on every note. Different ayanamsas shift the degrees and can change a conclusion, which is one more reason not to treat it as precision.
